These Guidelines provide the minimum recommended level of maintenance and inspections for fixed carbon dioxide fire-extinguishing systems on all ships, and are intended to demonstrate that the system is kept in good working order as specified in SOLAS regulation II-2/14.2.1.2.

Adoption of the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-Flashpoint Fule (IGF CODE) 13.6.1 Gas detection equipment shall be installed to monitor the integrity of the cargo containment, cargo handling and ancillary systems, in accordance with this section.

Every Liferaft shall be so constructed as to be capable of withstanding exposure for 30 days afloat in all sea conditions. The Liferaft shall be so constructed that when it is dropped into the water from a height of 18 m, the Liferaft and its equipment will operate satisfactorily.
